Hello!

I collect number plates/ licence plates from every country I visit. I'm visiting Finland from the 21st – 30th June. Does anyone know anywhere I can buy one or does anyone have one they would be willing to sell me please?

  1. All actual licence plates are owned by the government, and you cannot buy extras without valid reason.

You might be able to find souvenier-style plate with funny texts though. There might be an option to buy stolen plates and plates from (illegally) scrapped vehicles.

  2. Maybe some cars might have them still installed at a wrecking yard

  3. Now that looks cool, but getting a license plate here is most likely very difficult

  4. Damn you even have a Kosovan one, respect. I exported a car from Finland which im going to take off the finnish register, I assume they gonna let me keep the finnish plates since they dont need them there. I could bring one plate back to Finland, but I wont be back till end of July, so I dont know if I can help.

Maybe pm me if u havent found one by the time ur done, ill try to bring one back.

  5. I bet you have a screwdriver on you at all times 😀

  6. I actually do, but it’s the older kind without country markings

  7. There’s likely some at the Kauppatoti market, albeit they won’t be authentic.

  8. Seeing as people are interested. Here’s how I got some of them:

Kosovo – Met a Redditor who then gave me the plate. Spent all day showing me round his town, local waterfalls and mountains.
Slovenia – Met a Redditor on his lunch break from work and gave me the plate
Lithuania – Drove across Lithuania to meet someone who had one on ebay for sale
Estonia – Met a Redditor at an abandoned train station whilst driving across the county to Narva
Latvia – Met a Redditor at his work place in an industrial estate in Riga
India – Tuk tuk driver found someone selling old plates at the roadside and bought them
Bangladesh – Hotel waiter found me one after I mentioned it and gave it to me
Czech Republic – Bought an old one from antique store in Prague
Croatia – Found an old Yugoslavian plate for sale in a flea market in Split
Jersey – Antique dealer had one in his garage – followed him home in my car and he gave the plate to me
-Nepal – Someone I became friends with gave me an old one off his motorbike

  9. Ah, neat, the old style New York plate that I grew up with. The newer NY plate is this ugly rust colored thing, I’m not really a fan, but they now have another style that is white, blue and yellow, with Niagara Falls and the Statue of Liberty.
