Poland is and will always be a sovereign country. Their sovereignty lies within the fact that they are free to leave the EU at any time. Then they can continue to suppress the press and abolish the division of powers without anyone hindering them.
The EU was expanded into Eastern Europe in 2004 before the foundations were laid. That was a mistake. Already the EU before 2004 could not agree on the foundations.

Polish government want to take control of the courts to get more power and reduce freedom in Poland while crying “watch out, EU want to be powerful!” because EU don’t want to allow them to do that. Classic move.
Maybe there wouldn’t be if there wasn’t a dangerous Polish effort to control the press, the courts, and gay people.
Poland might start swaying public opinion on the EU a lot more aggressive now
Please do not make radical assumptions about people living in Poland based on polish PM. PM says whatever current ruling party propaganda is. Lots of polish citizens do not want to leave EU, moreover some actually wishes EU could intervene.
Leaving EU is the last wake up call for me now. If that happens I surely leave this country.
