>Before Donald Trump was the first former president and presumptive major party nominee to be convicted of a crime, he argued that a candidate who faced possible indictment shouldn’t be allowed to run for president.
>
>Trump’s opposition to presidential candidates with legal trouble was expressed in various stump speeches just days before the November 2016 election. Clinton was under investigation for her handling of classified email via a private email server during her time as secretary of state.
>
>“If she were to win this election it would create an unprecedented constitutional crisis,” Trump said in Reno. “In that situation we could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial. It would grind government to a halt.”
>
>“Folks, folks, folks, she shouldn’t be allowed to run. Okay?”
>
>Trump is now campaigning for president after losing one criminal case and still facing three others.
Trump’s hpypocrisy isn’t surprising, but remembering the “scandal” over Hillary’s emails makes me wistful for a time when that was the biggest concern Americans had for a presidential candidate.
I mean – (checks tome) – *now* we only have to worry about the future of democracy and our entire world falling apart.
You know, just little things like that.
And, speaking of concerns, because the Supreme Court and Republican extremists are determined to turn us into Gilead; many of us now have that neighbor down the street who likes to fly upside-down American flags while quoting Jesse Plemons character (from “Civil War”) whenever we pass by… “What kind of American are you?”.
Gosh-damn-it!
Make America Not Crazy Again.
And is also still under investigation, i would warrant.
Ah 2015….. it was a simpler time. Covid was still years off and we were still living under the polite fiction that this was a country of laws. I bet that if you asked pretty much any Republican voter back then, they’d have said the idea of someone continuing to run for President after 34 felony convictions with multiple other felony cases pending, including mishandling of highly classified national security documents and trying to steal a presidential election, they’d have thought you were crazy to even ask.
The fact that tens of millions of these same voters are completely incapable of the self reflection needed to see that they’ve lost their way is sad to say the least.
Isn’t it so ridiculous how low standards have become?
The double standard is ridiculous, but not surprising.
This is the excuse you will get:
“Trump didn’t actually commit any crimes; it was a political hit job. Clinton was actually guilty of committing crimes. So there.”
Waiting for “I didn’t say that”
Has trump ever said anything that applies to him? I mean this seriously; I have not heard anything except threats nothing about what he wants to improve our lives. The last promise he made was to build a wall that never happened and Mexico never paid for and now he is even denying that he ever said “lock her up” I mean WTF is this the scum of the scum or what?
I hope you’re not expecting a morally consistent and non-hypocritical response out of almost ANY politician.
I’m sure there are at least a few out there that are willing to die on that hill, but vanishingly few of them.
For the most part, their prime directive and motivation is to stay in office, and if they can say or do something that will aid in that goal, they’ll do it, even when it’s clearly a flip-flop.
45* seems to be just a little more shameless about it than most.
No, but you see, Clinton’s charges were real. Even though all evidence, and bodies of Justice that investigated her found that there was no crime to charge. Even those directly directed to by the Trump admin.
While Trump’s charges are all fake and politically motivated so they don’t count. Even though he has been convicted in a court of law by a jury of his peers for a crime his fixer had previously been convicted for that he was a co-conspirator for. Or the well documented illegally retained documents in his residence. Or the recorded evidence of him telling a Gov of a state to find votes as well as participated in multiple plots to overturn the election results including an attempt to assassinate the VP to overturn the results. All of that is just fake news…
See, that’s different. Not only is Trump under investigation, he’s now a convicted felon. Bigly difference. Oh and he’s also a hypocrite, but that’s just par for the course as a republican.
Always special rules for trump.
Eh it’s Trump only he deserves special consideration for everything. Heavy sarcasm
Whenever Trump talks like that, the interviewer should be asking “What’s stopping Biden from pardoning then like you did to your top conspirators?”
Rules for thee not for me
But but but he’s innocent. There’s the difference. What he thinks at least.
You don’t ever win with Trump and his ilk. Goalposts are on wheels for easy moving. It’s always the other person. It’s always Democratic collusion. It’s always someone or something else. Even if they have him on tape they will say it’s a deep fake AI because they don’t care.
Dorito Mussolini is also a hypocrite and liar who will probably look into a camera in the next 24 hours and say he never said that.
He this: it’s cause he’s full of shit.
The fact that he is still in the running is very sad and concerning.
Wait? He’s a hypocrite? Woah, slow down!
Is anyone really expecting any sort of integrity from Republicans these days?
Don the Con
Hypocrisy is no longer ANY kind of political imperative. Integrity is not nearly as important as is hating on the various out-classes.
Accusations of hypocrisy are now an inconvenient moment to be dodged in an interview, or they are badges of honor which testify to how rigged the system is against you and how hard of a fighter you are.
let’s just assume everything trump says will eventually come back to bite him when it applies to him.
Hypocrites be like that
I think you can literally take every complaint this orange turd has made the last 9 years and apply it to him.
So what is the use of these types of articles? Anyone who is halfway aware and actually cares knows ALL the things the pig has said. QUIT WRITING ARTICLES highlighting what a pig Trump is, cause we already knew. Hell half of us knew back when thw Apprentice was on that he was a lying sack of shit
Man I wish he’d just disappear into thin air
The Republican Party is insane
If the GOP didn’t have hypocrisy, they wouldn’t have anything at all.
“Rules for thee, but not for me”
