  1. This is not even the ‘real’ inflation. I am Turk living in the UK:

1 kg mince: £5-6 in the UK

1 kg mince £10 in Turkiye

My countrymen are earning less and spending more!

  2. Yay! More billionaires! Less jobs! More minimum wage earners! Less investments! Oligarchy is fun!

  3. Since the whole coup thing, inflation has been steadily climbing. And you’re telling me the overall peak that was reached across all these years is a rate of 75%, and that this speed was only reached just about now?

  4. – It’s the worst day of my life 😔

    – Worst day of your life so far!😊

  5. Everyone’s wages keep going up, Erdogan just cannot stop winning.

  6. If interest rates are at 50% which is very high how come there is so little effect?

  7. So that’s what Gen Z means when they called something **Peak**.

  8. All these economists are rushing to buy Turkey’s government bobds to bank on their belief, I presume.

  9. That’s what happens when a potential football player choose to ~~fuck his own country~~ become president

  10. Türkish in Turkey ???

What kind of money do you use to save for vacations and car purchase ???

  11. It’s fine it’s just inflation, only worry when it’s big brother hyperinflation show up.

  12. It is peak because of the “base effect”. There is no guarantee that the government will not make another radical decision to send our economy downhill, but if they don’t it will be decreasing compared to previous years same period due to base effect.

For those who don’t understand what base effect is, it just means inflation will still be here for a long time, only thing that is decreasing is the growth rate of inflation.

  13. Years of Erdoganomics finally having its toll. He did fire like 3 subsequent finance ministers to keep interest rates low, then the earthquake happened.

Had he quit 2 years ago, his reign would have a good legacy, in his time Turkey did grow in many ways. Now he’s going to be recorded as the man who got Turskish economy to soar only to dive it into the ground.

  14. Argentina: Those are rookie numbers, you gotta pump up those numbers!

  15. 1st – it’s not the real inflation rate
2nd – nothing can be at peak as long as erdo in position

  16. They wish. We wish… I love my country but the politics stink… sigh.

  17. I’m actually bidding on an island off the coast of turkey. Shits cheap as shit,

  18. I remember 6-7 years ago every comment section ever was spammed with Turkish flags lmao. What ever happened to those days…

  19. General elections were in May 2023 and prices soared in June. So for annual matches this is definitely the peak.

  20. Been there last months. It’s getting worse and worse, sadly

  21. Had to reread this like 3 times, forgot peak means a whole other thing

  22. What’s nuts is that this is the second time in about 30 years Turkey has run into hyperinflation.

  23. Honest question: Does Erdogan realise that high inflation is not good and is not someone to be proudly displayrf around like a Phallus?
