You should tell them ducks love peas and is better for them also you can get more peas to throw at them than you would with a roll

It’s not the best food for them. It’s filled with lot’s of things they don’t need & very few of the things they do. It doesn’t fulfill the dietry requirements of wild birds. But… It’s not like feeding them arsenic or anything.
It’s the bird equivalent of fast food. Is tasty, fills them up, but overall has a lot less nutritional value than other food. If they eat absolutely nothing but bread they will struggle.
I don’t know why everyone became so certain that bread was 100% lethal for ducks all of a sudden. Do you know what’s worse for them than bread? Starving to death.
As a duck I’d prefer to be eating bread than all the filth and rubbish laying in the water they are forced to swim about in. Would you rather eat McDonald’s or an empty can of Dutch gold?
I used to do this, bring some extra bread and give it to wee kids to feed the ducks, they just love it so much more than we do

The main reason why people say stop leaving bread for ducks, other than it isn’t particularly nutritious for them, is because it encourages rats to breed. Happened in our local park, and they actually put someone patrolling the area and implemented fines.

I went with the kids to feed the ducks a few weeks ago, I took the advice I had read previously on reddit that bread is bad for ducks. Fair enough, so I brought what people suggested, peas/lettuce/sweet corn, the ducks looked at me like I was thick, ignored the food and then swam away.
