L.A. County wants to cap rent hikes at 3%. Landlords say that would push them to sell

1. So sell! Nobody cares if you take a loss. The next guy gets the place and tries his luck at being a landlord. This is capitalism, don’t fear it.

2. What a reasonable solution would look like: “Rent caps have failed countless times. Instead we need to build more houses, liberalize zoning and building codes and build good public infrastructure. Also we need to support areas outside the big cities, for example with educational facilities.”  

   What I predict this thread will look like: “This is the fault of blackrock and the global rent cartel. Once we cap the rents and make building less attractive, I am sure prices will go down. If I screech long enough the forces of supply and demand will not apply to certain goods.”

4. Price caps are an embarrassing, low-rent (forgive me) tactic of liberal politicians that promise progress without making any change happen. Disgusting how democrats prey on the poorly educated. And then they wonder why black and hispanic people aren’t coming to the polls for Biden.

   Increase. Supply. Change. Zoning. Change. Permitting.
