>It is understood officials fear cyclists using the tree-lined avenue alongside Kensington Palace are putting walkers, as well as diplomats and residents, at risk.
Won’t somebody please think of the diplomats?
Surely if cyclists are riding at an unsafe speed, the answer is to deal with the cyclists rather than shut it to pedestrians *and* cyclists.
Irresponsible cyclists will just go and ride irresponsibly somewhere else.
Banning pedestrians as well stinks of cyclists being used as a convenient excuse and its just the residents further trying to separate themselves from normal people
Just an excuse to keep the *’unwashed masses’ / ‘peasant class*’ away from them.
So ‘near misses’ are enough to get KPG closed. Meanwhile, how many peds and cyclists have actually to die at a dangerous junction before anyone lifts a finger?
KPG residents have dreamed of this for years. They’re leveraging the Regent’s Park death for all it’s worth to get their way.
