  1. I didn’t think the current RTE schedule had the potential to get much worse. It was already woeful, across the board. I guess I was wrong.

  2. The new series, titled ‘Help Me Out’, is calling for RTÉ Director Generals, overpaid RTÉ stars, and family members who want nepotistic “no show” jobs to come forward with ‘trivial excuses’ to get more money to stay on air. But it is understood the programme has been pitched as a comedy rather than a systemic financial review of RTÉ waste, with a panel of comics handing out the cash.

A call out for the show reads:
“Ever had a gripe or argument with a friend/ family member/ the general public about wanting more cash to fund serious sectoral waste and wanted a second opinion on ‘who’s in the wrong here?’ Let our panel of comedy critics hear your side of the story and ultimately decide to give you ‘pots of lovely money’ while filming our brand new pilot series ‘Help Me Out’.”

Detailing the types of issues they are looking for, they added: “Sister got a job because of her dad and you want one too? Housemate didn’t pay for the utilities using their private limited company so it couldn’t be written off? Partner didn’t use her ‘celebrity’ to get you a nice afternoon cooking show?“

This and much more will be covered when ‘Help Me Out’, with its €160 million budget, hits our screens.

  3. As if we don’t encounter enough of these types every day just on the street, they now want to feed them into our living rooms (or wherever we relax and watch tv). FFS…

  4. Dee Forbes having her hand out of more money and this is the best they can do – is it vogue/Hubes//doireann or the terminally unfunny Bernard o Shea hosting

  5. Why is RTE always years behind trends that have already died out on other international stations? In 6 years time, get ready for RTE’s Sunday night line up to consist of ‘The Masked Singer’.

  6. no, I don’t want tax money funding a dr phil or jeremy kyle knockoff, they are vile shows that exploit the vulnerable for what is basically a modern day freak show
