Ah RTÉ have made it to some year in the early 2000s
“we’re definitely spending your TV license on worthwhile programming, you don’t need Netflix” – some lad at RTE
A comedy show, about family feuds, is one way to escalate things.
Jeremy Kyle Ireland, Jeremy is gonna be on €600,000 a year with rte
This feels like a new low for RTE.
I didn’t think the current RTE schedule had the potential to get much worse. It was already woeful, across the board. I guess I was wrong.
The new series, titled ‘Help Me Out’, is calling for RTÉ Director Generals, overpaid RTÉ stars, and family members who want nepotistic “no show” jobs to come forward with ‘trivial excuses’ to get more money to stay on air. But it is understood the programme has been pitched as a comedy rather than a systemic financial review of RTÉ waste, with a panel of comics handing out the cash.
A call out for the show reads:
“Ever had a gripe or argument with a friend/ family member/ the general public about wanting more cash to fund serious sectoral waste and wanted a second opinion on ‘who’s in the wrong here?’ Let our panel of comedy critics hear your side of the story and ultimately decide to give you ‘pots of lovely money’ while filming our brand new pilot series ‘Help Me Out’.”
Detailing the types of issues they are looking for, they added: “Sister got a job because of her dad and you want one too? Housemate didn’t pay for the utilities using their private limited company so it couldn’t be written off? Partner didn’t use her ‘celebrity’ to get you a nice afternoon cooking show?“
This and much more will be covered when ‘Help Me Out’, with its €160 million budget, hits our screens.
Rte, say hallo to barrel bottom.
Has no one learned anything from the Jeremy Kyle incident?
As if we don’t encounter enough of these types every day just on the street, they now want to feed them into our living rooms (or wherever we relax and watch tv). FFS…
The decline of Irish society thanks rte
Will Doireann Garrihy be hosting it?
Dee Forbes having her hand out of more money and this is the best they can do – is it vogue/Hubes//doireann or the terminally unfunny Bernard o Shea hosting
This is bottom of the barrel stuff
Nice to see RTE finally catching up to the nineties.
Why is RTE always years behind trends that have already died out on other international stations? In 6 years time, get ready for RTE’s Sunday night line up to consist of ‘The Masked Singer’.
An opening for Joe Duffy?
‘Oh, ya, ya, tell me more. How hard did he hit you. Oh.. ohhh’
no, I don’t want tax money funding a dr phil or jeremy kyle knockoff, they are vile shows that exploit the vulnerable for what is basically a modern day freak show
Has anybody suggested the Hutches & Kinahans as candidates?
I’d call any of you a cunt on TV if I get paid. Who’s in?
