When Charles passes, what would happen to Camilla? Will she be invited to events etc

  1. She will continue to work because he’s going to be a modern (lazy) king.

  2. She’ll probably keep doing some stuff but mostly retire off to be with her family and all the money Charles left her

  3. Camilla would move out of Buckingham Palace and most likely retire, occasionally appearing at important events (if she wants to or is able to).

  4. She will never give up power. She did everything to get to this point, she will hold it in her clutches to the bitter end

  5. Camilla has her own home on her own estate. She will be okay.

  6. Camilla is older than Charles so it’s anyone’s guess which one of them will survive the other.

If she wants to retire, then both her and William would be in agreement of that, she’s probably very well set up financially by Charles, so she wouldn’t need anything from William

if she doesn’t, then she’ll have whatever role he’d be willing to give her.

I don’t see William taking away Clarence House , but Highgrove will return to the Duchy since she doesn’t live there, and she’ll be back to being a guest at Sandringham and Balmoral, probably her children won’t be getting invited anymore either

There were articles that she will be called “The Queen Mother”, I think the response to that is “When Pigs Fly”, she’ll have to give up a lot of the power she got by being Queen, and I think it depends on her age and spirit at the time whether she’ll fight back or not.
if she does, she and her circle might try to leak against William, but I think the very tiny goodwill she has with the public will evaporate the minute they no longer have to tolerate her.

  7. She’ll retire.

Camilla never wanted to be queen. I think she genuinely loved Charles but didn’t care about all the crap that came with him. She would much prefer to be at her own house Ray Mill with her dogs and grandkids.

She and William have a friendly relationship, he doesn’t hold a weird unhealthy grudge against her so I assume she’ll still be invited to major events but will mostly decline to attend and will simply fully retire.

There are a few patronages she seems to genuinely care about, osteoporosis being one, so she may still be active in that realm for some time.

  8. She hates the life and just wants to sit at home with dogs and a book so I very much think she’ll take the opportunity to step back.

The Wales’s as they are now wouldn’t want her in the mix too much. QE the Queen Mum was a different kettle of fish because she was the actual queen’s mother.

  9. I think she’s self aware enough to know she’ll be happier if she simply “retires” and retreats to her own home and lives a quiet life.

  10. I’m sure she’ll step back. She just wants to be at home, private, with her kids and grandkids. I’m sure she’ll show up to important family events, but otherwise I think she’ll unofficially retire.

  11. Considering how little (relatively) young William and Kate do, I doubt an older William and Kate will want to increase their workload. If possible, I’m sure they’d love to push off some events to Camilla after Charles is gone. Doubt she’d accept, but I bet they will offer if it gives em another Netflix and chill day at home.

One thing we know about the Wales’, they are LAZY!

  12. Camilla is no spring chicken, so the question is how active she wants to be. I know she has her pet causes and interests so I imagine she will do a semi-retirement and attend the events she wants.

We’ve been threatened with a slimming down of the monarchy for 30 years and we’ve already seen a dress rehearsal of this, so I imagine it will be accelerated even more.

  13. They call her queen. I saw an article of war veterans visiting them and they said King Charles and Queen Camilla. I thought she wasn’t one? I don’t understand

  14. I think at heart Camilla is a home body – she loves the countryside, her horses, hunting, gardening and her friends who all live in Gloucestershire away from London. I’m sure she will move back there and live a fairly quiet life with the country set.

  15. When Henry VIII died and his son became king, Henry’s widow Catherine Parr was dowager Queen even though she wasn’t Edward’s mother.

    Much the same as Camilla.

  16. She will be shunted to the side, eventually forgotten in the dustbin of history.

  17. Most possibly she is respected by William and Kate. She won’t be ignored but she definitely might lay low from many public engagements.
