If I was the woman assaulted I’d be seriously thinking about suing the state for not properly protecting her/us.
Christ what a frightful ordeal. That sentence should be at least doubled, as far as I’m concerned. It’s clear he’s a very serious danger to women (and he can feck off with the trauma of losing his mother as a child)
6.5 years is a joke. The woman’s life is probably destroyed from the trauma. I can’t even imagine if this happened to me.
This guy will probably end up killing someone once he’s released – violent sexual predators frequently escalate to the point of becoming murderers. Sentencing in this country is a joke. I hope the victim can find a way through this horrific ordeal she’s suffered
Complete joke 6 and a half years vs that woman’s rest of her life trauma. Worst part is he’ll serve half that time and get back out to the same to another woman. Fuck whatever judge can look at this animal and think that’s justice.
He was out on bail when he done this apparently. 29 previous convictions, why are they allowed rack up so many ? Glad he’s locked up, but fuck me our legal system is soft.
Let me get this right. He smashed his way into a woman’s house with an axe and chased her in her own house and got a suspended sentence? No wonder he escalated his predatory behaviour if thats the lesson he got for the first one.
Absolute joke of a sentence. You can’t go from kidnapping and sexually assaulting women back to ‘normal’ in 25 years let alone fucking 6. There’s no punishment to that sentence and there’s no rehabilitation either.
Get more time for selling dodgy boxes, judicial system in this country is shocking
Don’t know why people are annoyed over a piss poor sentencing.
Next time, maybe go to the court and rattle the gates outside when some pedo gets away lightly, or when some dodgy box distributor is locked away never to be seen again by comparison, instead of complaining on Reddit.
Maybe that’s what it takes to get the point across and change the erratic sentencing in the country.

How did he only get 6 and a half years for kidnapping (and false imprisonment) and sexual assault? The sentencing for certain crimes in this country is absolutely ridiculous.

Another man in Westmeath had a woman locked up and tortured in his house, she was able to escape and just about tell people. What’s goin on anymore

Plead not guilty, forcing his victim to go through a trial.
39 previous convictions. Some of which are extremely serious.
A measly 7 year sentence with 6 months suspended. Put the automatic 25% remission with this, and you have a truly pathetic sentence for a severe crime.
Send him to an island colony.

He received a three year suspended sentence for the offence.”

Should be a whole life sentence for crimes like this. Offenders like this often figure no witness means less chance of being caught. So he will be out in about 4ish years. Ticking time bomb I reckon.
