I always struggle with the transition between black and white. We have some people here we consider very white but then others think they are black somehow. Is race a fluid?

In the US (and Latin America too stupidly enough) I have been told I don’t look like I speak Spanish so many times because Im “too white”.
Yet in Spain other Spanish people can always tell I’m Spanish. The ignorance people have about Spanish quite literally being a European language is sad.

Im glad you all can rationalize and explain it because I can’t and I’ve lived with them for a few decades. I think it’s the language, like English = white or something stupid.
And they’re even weirder than that. I speak Spanish in public with my wife, it’s her native language, I like to practice so I can talk to people when we travel, and we like to talk about people around us without them understanding. And somehow I’m culturally appropriating, trying to be something I’m not… I don’t dress in native attire or change my appearance, I just don’t understand them.
A country of immigrants, you’d think they would be accustomed to people speaking other languages by now but nope
