The Riga Central Market is in the foreground. The market pavilions are repurposed Zeppelin hangars from the early 20th century.
The Railroad bridge is in the center of the frame, leading up to the National Library of Latvia aka. The Palace of Light.
That bridge is so low, not much shipping traffic?
I visited Riga a couple years ago. I loved it, and would readily go back. That’s all I have to say on the matter.
Brilliant picture!
That’s very beautiful
I had a great time in Riga, the city is beautiful. It did have a depressing atmosphere though and lots of the locals seemed sad and almost rude. I guess this photo is from the panorama deck at the academy? I think I have the same photo
Really nice city with friendly people and good restaurants. Love to visit with my family. What’s up with oil trains traveling through old town though?
I’ll have you know that the other main bridge in Riga is rusty as fuck and has an absolute fucking enormous hole in the footpath which I nearly fell through and into the river in 2019
can’t wait for the moment when all baltic capitals are connected via bullet train
What is people’s opinion on the library there?
I’m not a fan. Breaks the skyline a bit.
Lovely city. A lot of people head to Tallinn, but I much prefer Riga.
