It’s all that cynical and pathetic, and denies food to kids, maybe a cherry on top for some of these shitbags.

  12. I have a feeling of deep shame and hatred towards anyone who would deny free meals/benefits for children in need during the summer months.

    Once, when I was doing my lunch duty, I saw a child stuffing a frozen fruit bar into his pocket. USDA rules don’t allow food to be taken out of the lunchroom; plus obviously it would melt into a giant mess soon!

    I had a quiet conversation with him about it and he told me that he was going to take it home to eat later because he didn’t have any food at home.

    This happened years ago yet it’s like it happened yesterday. It changed me. Damn those people straight to hell.

This needs to be drilled into the brains of voters. Keep in mind these are federal funds that states are turning down. If you were told you could actually feed the hungry without it impacting your paycheck you likely would unless you were some sort of sociopath which is what the GOP is. Regressive sociopaths

  35. Cool. Cut off all federal funding. If those deadbeat kids don’t need food, companies don’t need subsidies, and the states don’t deserve any disaster relief response at the federal level, or support in general.

    If you’re going to fuck over hungry kids and accept schools getting shot up regularly, I don’t want my federal tax money going into your shithole state because somehow feeding starving kids = woke or some bullshit.

A lot of people here in the Northeast like to point to Vermont as an example of how there are “good” Republicans because they, interestingly, have a supermajority of Democrats in their legislature but have a (very well liked) Republican governor. But even their “good” Republican governor vetoed* their universal school lunch program citing some bs fiscal conservative argument. So I just wanna use this as a prime example of how Republicans are cruel, even at their supposed best.

    Edit: *Correction, he didn’t veto the bill. He allowed it to go into effect without signing it because he knew the legislature would override him anyway. It still stands to say he did not support the bill, and the only reason it passed was because the Democrats actually cared.
