22. Funny enough, isn’t this one of the signs of the downfall of a dictator? History shows that many dictators fall because they surround themselves with obedient followers that are likely to exaggerate successes or capabilities and hide weaknesses or bad news. This leads the dictator to overconfidence bias and results in making bad tactical decisions.

    Their enemy realizes they’re overextended and exploits that to get the upper hand and that ultimately leads to the downfall of the dictator.

28. People in the comments talking tough, and they’re right that Putin’s comment is nonsense, but I for one am so frustrated with European leaders. We’ve not been helping Ukraine nearly enough, they should not be struggling as they are. Far too much hesitancy to aid Ukraine in more meaningful ways.

38. I’m not sure where this false confidence comes from, but he’s been fighting an military that hasn’t been able to take advantage of the power that combined arms operations can bring to the table. I assume it’s just posturing, but my money would be on NATO even if many of its members have hollowed out militaries.

    Russia would never be able to gain air superiority over European skies, and that really makes or breaks any freedom to operate on the ground. Using nuclear weapons (even tactical nukes) would invoke a response that would obliterate Russia as a state actor, so they don’t even have that going for them.
