Given the standard of living in Cuba today why would they still welcome Russian anything let alone Russian military units? If they want to raise the standard of living there they need to foster better relations with the west.

I think it would be amazing if a couple of Russian naval ships in Baltiysk or Kronstadt were to randomly explode while everyone’s eyes are on the Russian Ships in the Carribean. Then while everyone marvels at the psychology of that, the Russian ships in Cuba blow up anyway.

Honestly, given the state of the russian navy, the fact that it made it there without [catching fire ](https://www.newsweek.com/russia-kuznetsov-murkansk-fire-aircraft-carrier-1768956) or [sinking and killing everyone on board](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kursk_submarine_disaster) is a feat in and of itself for russia. The survivors deserve some beach time in a 3rd world mess of a nation.

Nobody is scared of Russia anymore. They literally destroyed any concerns most people had over them posing a threat. They can no longer leverage the Russian projection fear when we thought they had an actual military. Get rid of Putin if you want your respect back.
