To pull 40 billion tons per year (current emissions) and 10 billion tons more to draw down back to 400 ppm, we will need 45,000 CCR stations. We currently have three. Only one is net zero.
Something very strange about this article. Wouldn’t the most efficient method direct carbon capture be simply freezing carbon dioxide out of the air?
All this nebulous talk about boxes with magic partitions and entropy seems like the writer is trying to be too clever by half; they’re not explaining what they mean while trying to bedazzle the reader with high school level physics and *formulae* <shocked Pikachu face>
Has Wired succumbed to ensh!ttification or am I talking out of my… hat?
Granted, I’m a tad rusty as high school physics was 35 years ago and I haven’t touched it since. Please, if someone with more recent experience would care to set me straight, that would be super.
I think a good idea would be to convert really unnecessary stuff like NASA and use their massive budget and brain power to solving Global Warming so that we won’t fry in 5 years.
if we have to ask, we can’t afford it.
Freeze the CO2 then launch to space with huge slingshot
