Nordkoreanische Tanker im russischen Hafen Wostotschny gesichtet; dreister Ölschmuggel wird zur Normalität

North Korean Tankers spotted at Russia’s Vostochny Port; Brazen Oil Product Smuggling Becomes the Norm

  1. Several North Korean oil tankers that allegedly violated U.N. Security Council resolutions visited a far eastern Russia port

Ummm. I don’t think NK or Russia care about sanctions

Edit – can SK or US intercept them en route?

  2. Why wouldn’t they? I’m literally asking, are there any consequences? If not, then it’s just business for them.

  3. Ya know this tankers might not be very reliable …. Bad maintenance

  4. Well, yeah. Were they supposed to just give up? There’s not really any real rules out there. They’re happy to do anything that won’t elicit a physical response.

  5. Yep. Sanctions are never expected to be fool proof, they’re just there to make life harder for the sanctioned. Russia can smuggle their oil through a series of North Korean ships and shell companies, but that significantly lowers the profit on every barrel, especially because whoever is buying it (China and India, I believe) knows they have Russia over a proverbial barrel in terms of price.

Gazprom is already saying that it would take a decade for them to fully financially recover from the damage of sanctions, and this war isn’t even over yet. Nothing about this is some ‘get out of jail free’ card.

  6. US subs should be sinking them but that would be a environmental disaster.

  7. I hope the United States and Europe *never* again give North Korea food aid or heating oil. Russia and China bought it: they can pay from now on. Good luck, guys!

  8. >Brazen trade between two literal neighbouring states

lmao, what do they expect them to do when they’ve been sanctioned to shit.
