Police have been contacted after a man suspected of trying to remove an Ulster flag from a lamppost brandished an apparent firearm.
The incident is alleged to have occurred in Whitehead, Co Antrim, on Friday night.

Footage of the incident has appeared on social media.

It appears to show a male climbing a ladder towards an Ulster flag that is flying from a lamppost.

When the man realises he is being filmed, he pulls out what appears to be a handgun.

East Antrim Alliance MLA Danny Donnelly said he was aware of the incident.

“I have been made aware of a video of an incident where a gun was flashed in public in Whitehead last night that has been shared on social media,” he said.

“This is obviously very concerning for people living in the area. I know the PSNI are aware and are investigating.”

The PSNI has been contacted for comment.

  1. This isn’t an Ulster flag.

How fucking embarrassing is this from the Telegraph!

  2. Why is this guy removing a flag?, I’m in work so I can’t hear the volume, is he a themmun or an us’in?

  3. Fair play to him. Council can’t send anybody out to take down flags for they’ll be attacked.

  4. More people should actively remove flags 👍

People who put flags up are absolute fucking morons.

  5. The ladder is inside the bounds of that house. The yellowy walls in the background are the local GP surgery
