I get the feeling more and more lately that carbon emissions are less of a concern than commercial real estate profits. People commuting to work for hours a day is where regular consumers emit most of their carbon in a lifetime. Of course, it’s nominal compared with the top Fortune 500 companies, but shouldn’t a job that can be done from home be done from home? If someone needs to leave the house because they can’t work from home maybe go to local co working spaces, but commuting seems seriously antiquated at this point at best. Sometimes narratives get a little wonky to ensure profits over anything else, but let’s be consistent here. Turn those buildings into housing for the hoards of people about to made obsolete by ai.
