this is the moment a family of bears destroyed a mock campsite at Oakland Zoo’s awareness event the mock campsite was set up by the zookeepers to help teach people how to avoid confrontation in the wild it is also part of the zoo’s annual Bear Camp event to celebrate national black bear day which falls on the first Saturday in June videos show the Bears knocking over callers munching on marshmallows destroying tents and trashing a picnic table Oakland Zoo said in a press release the most common human bear conflicts involve unsecured attractants such as garbage and human food the family of bears seen in the video were actually involved in a conflict back in 2017 the mother named Cambria and her Cubs entered a woman’s house which resulted in Cambria inflicting a non-lethal injury on the homeowner as she tried to chase him out normally following an incident like this the bear would be deemed a public safety threat and euthanized but due to the unique circumstances of the incident authorities made an exception and place Cambria and her Cubs permanently at Oakland Zoo the press release said
