Sissel Kyrkjebø voiced the Norwegian Ariel from the Disney classic: **The Little Mermaid.**
Not only that, but she provided the singing voice lead character in the *Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish dubs*. She recorded the iconic songs like “Part of Your World” and brought Ariel’s vocals to life in those language versions. Kyrkjebø’s powerful and emotive voice captured the spirit of the curious and adventurous mermaid princess. While the English version Jodi Benson Ariel’s speaking and singing voice is comendable, Kyrkjebøs is simply amazing. Her performance as Ariel is widely praised and remembered fondly by audiences in Norway and Scandinavia. The Danish fairytale voiced by a Norwegian! Kyrkjebø’s involvement helped make “The Little Mermaid” a beloved classic in those regions.
The soft consonants are especially well-received by all. And for those of us residing in Norway, there is a certain charm of the coast and sea inherent in it. A delightful voice that is quite fitting.

I think Shrek was expertly done as well. The scene with the Gingerbread man was spot on and better than the original. Both Donkey and Shrek sounded better.
Dagfinn Lyngbø did an amazing job as Sid in Ice Age and in my opinion elevates the humor of the character far beyond the original.
Another honorable mention should be the Norwegian dub for [Genie in Aladin.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm22W0Awq98) No way that it is “better” than Robin Williams interpretation, but it is definitely an excellent imitation – I can’t really hear a difference. Sue me, hate me.
