US expects Israel to accept Gaza peace plan if Hamas does •

now a senior Aid to prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that Israel has accepted a framework deal for the winding down the Gaza War now being Advanced by US President Joe Biden though he described it as flawed and in need of much more work that do White House officials continue to say they have every expectation that Israel will accept the ceasefire proposal six weeks then of a pausing of hostilities on the table with the hope that that could well be extended indefinitely well first of all let’s hear from the US this was an Israeli proposal we have every expectations that that if Hamas agrees to the proposal as was transmitted to them and Israeli proposal that Israel would say yes it’s not a small thing but what you get is the start of phase one so you get some hostages coming out initial hostages you get some calm you get some more humanitarian assistance maybe up to 600 trucks and then the two sides can start talking about phase two a little earlier we spoke to our chief foreign editor Rob Parsons it’s not entirely clear at this point uh yeah it’s true that they have threatened they will withdraw unless Ben Netanyahu says no to this deal uh they say it’s completely unacceptable that Israel has to continue its military operation in the Gaza Strip that it has to make sure that the administration uh after the war is over is an Israeli one and so on and so on completely unacceptable to people outside of Israel uh but uh at this stage it’s not clear what nothing y who’s response to itamar benu and bzel SM is going to be he does have a bit of a fallback it has to be said because yay laid who’s the leader of yesid one of the biggest parties in the knesset 24 members of the knesset has said not to worry about those two members of of his uh Alliance of his uh Governor Co government Coalition his party will give him the backing if he signs on to this deal uh so he’s got to make lots of different calculations and not all of them are about what’s happening inside Israel he has to think too about how the United States is going to react to what he does and he knows that Joe Biden has put an immense about a amount of political capital on ensuring that this goes through Joe Biden wants to get this out of the way and to be a success for him before he gets to the US elections if this stumbles and crumbles and fall collapses that’s not good for Joe Biden and that’s going to reflect on the relationship between Joe Biden and Benin Netanyahu so netanyahu’s got to think about a lot of different moving Parts in this our chief foreign editor Rob Parson’s there talking to us a little earlier on

The United States said Sunday that if Hamas accepts the proposed multi-phase Gaza truce plan outlined by President Joe Biden, it expects Israel to follow suit. Presenting it on Friday, Biden said the offer would begin with a six-week phase that would see Israeli forces withdraw from all populated areas of the Gaza Strip and an initial hostage-prisoner exchange.

  7. We’re no longer asking. If Israel plays games and doesnt accept a full, permanent ceasefire, we (US) will see to it that the ICJ ruling for a stop to hostilities goes to the UN security Council for a vote and we WILL NOT use our veto to stop it.

  10. It’s the same proposal from a couple of weeks ago that Hamas accepted but Israel went against. The only difference now is the US “urge” Israel accept this but he painted in a way for Israel to save face by pretending it’s their deal but they even destroyed that. Now they have no choice but to except it or the US won’t veto anymore ICJ attempts to stop the war which will leave Israel with no allies for the near future and in the target of everyone in the Middle East while the US try to create allies with the Saudi’s and Qatar in which they’re failing in that because of Israel. Israel has become a burden on the whole world.

  19. Why is Biden protecting Hamas, and why is it not being reported that US weapons have been found in Hamas stockpiles, smuggled to Gaza through the tunnels from Egypt?
    Israel should not stop the pressure and the war on Rafah until Hamas is dead and not able to ever come back.
    Why is that so hard for Joe Biden to understand and act on?
    Why is Egypt not being reported on.
    Also, this fake peace plan – because according to Palestinian creed, there can never be a peace, only requires half the hostages to be freed, depending on the good faith of Hamas or whomever to release the rest later.
    This is insane, and should not be accepted.

  26. If the deal does not include the complete disbanding of Hamas, it's not a deal. As an Israeli, I would not feel totally secure with a Hamas-included government at our border. No cease-fire until Hamas is out!
