They’re relatively new on the scene and made little gains but like most of Europe they’re trending upwards.
“Hermann Kelly, former press officer for Nigel Farage and now leader of the Irish Freedom Party.”
That’s horrific.
It’s worrying the fact that any of them got elected and that some nearly got elected. They increased their vote. Looking at the results of the far right in Europe, we seem to have a great ability to never learn from history. Ireland is no different and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some far right candidates making it to National politics in our soon to come general election.
So all the nutters are in Dublin.
What amazes me is the actual small number of votes needed to win – 2,500 votes will do it in the south west – therefore why b surprised if influencing some of the 60,000 non nationals allowed to vote seems strange ? Course they are going to be approached and promises made for the extra votes now here in the last 2 years or so ! It’s common sense !!
Ps: 🤦🏻♂️Why downvote when this is complete common sense – and I’m not saying they are voting far right ! Why would they vote against themselves ! I’m saying that there is a big chunk of new votes and that is going to be used by (all) candidates.
Us dubs can never say anything bad about the rest of the country now
Tik tok is full of comments telling SF they got what they deserved for “letting all the foreigners in”
Irish people surely aren’t that thick and it would make ye think there is something sinister behind it .
Gavin Pepper getting elected should be alarm bells for the country. Not just because of his views, but because he seems to be quite inept and can’t even hold an argument properly without resorting to tactics a child would use.
If someone as inept and lacking in any charisma or noted intellect like Gavin Pepper can get elected off the back of his rhetoric, then one can only fear and imagine what a far-right candidate with some actually charisma and can pass off as intelligent could do in this country.
If these trends keep up for the general, the far right will probably bleed enough support from SF to guarantee another FFG government
These people aren’t Irish nationalists, they’re Brits. If anyone should go home, it’s them.
I thought you weren’t happy about the tents flooding Dublin 🤔.
Oh, fuck
Imagine voting for these psychos? How thick or brainwashed do people have to be to give them any level of support?
I think FFG have to foot a lot of the blame if we see a rise in support for these type of candidates. The manner in which they have been running the country isn’t exactly persuading people not to vote for far right candidates.
Simple Simon and Mick Martin could do with realising the way that they run the country has consequences and this is one of them and I say this as someone who would never vote for a far candidate. Let’s be honest FFG haven’t exactly been governing with urgency or blue skies thinking more like at a relaxed pace, sometimes going around in circles with a pinch of dull skies thinking.
I find the Dublin results very worrying. 3 far right/fascist councillors elected across the county, and a lot of others polling well. Would have been more elected if they hadn’t all run against eachother.
People sometimes like to run down rural Ireland for voting gombeens (this is also true), but what the fuck is going on in Dublin when they’re electing the like of Gavin Pepper? There seems to be a real disconnect with working class areas and they’re being manipulated by far-right agitators.
They left one out: Waterford, Eric English. 81 votes overall because he’s a fucking bogey with no eyebrows.

Have mercy
Ugh, is there a TLDR?
