Christian couple ban gay man and his ITV producer partner from buying their dream £650,000 Surrey home due to their sexuality – and quote the bible that homosexuality is a sin

  1. If they didn’t want to sell it to them for that reason, why publicly tell them that? You’d think they’d just make up another reason like they’ve accepted another offer. They’ve just caused themselves a media shitstorm and outed themselves as homophobes for life.

  2. Wouldn’t this technically fall under a hate crime?

“Something is a homophobic or transphobic hate incident if the victim or anyone else thinks it was carried out because of hostility or prejudice based on sexual orientation or transgender identity.”

I would say excluding them from being able to buy something because of their sexual orientation would be classed as prejudice.

Edit: As someone else pointed out, this is more of a Hate Incident than a crime. I didn’t realise there was a difference between the two by the letter of the law.

  3. Utterly disgusting. They indulged in letting the couple know the homophobic reason why weren’t selling to them and hit them with a bible quote for their own delight. Trash tier people.

  4. For fuck sake… move on with this homosexuality is a sin bullshit… two consenting adults love each other and THAT is your problem?! I don’t see any of these bible loving Christians stand up and voice their disgust at priests raping kids or the fact that the church is suppose to be humble and shit yet their boss sits on a golden throne…

  5. That should be illegal. If it’s illegal to discriminate based on religion, why is it not illegal for religions to discriminate based on other factors? Pathetic people.

  6. Why is it these sorts of people seem to gloss over 90% of the teachings of Christ and just seem to concentrate on the bits about gays? There are dozens of things that Jesus teaches that people don’t follow but for some reason we gotta draw the line at “the gays”. I’ve never seen an article about people refusing to bake cakes for people don’t go to Church on a Sunday or who dare to wear mixed fabrics which are also no-no if we’re going by the letter of the bible. 🤣

I say this as a Christian as well. From my experience it’s just people trying to justify their pre-existing homophobic beliefs.

EDIT: Get this culture war crap out of the UK and back to the US where it belongs…

  7. People are shit.

If I was local I’d try to organise a socially distanced gay pride parade on their street.

  8. How ridiculous. Got to love good old fashioned bigotry dressed up as ‘Christian values’. Also the Cambridge physicist has made a very foolish decision to be so open about her beliefs – I don’t think that’s going to be well received by many of the students!

  9. How is homophobia still a thing in 2022? How can you CARE enough about the lives of two strangers to feel any sort of strong emotion about it? I can’t comprehend it.

  10. Christians want it to be something you have control over in order to make it evil and a sin, because you choose, you make a sin (having free will). If it was natural it would mean it’s designed by God. Nevermind it occurs in nature and animals don’t have free will…

  11. The funny (sad) part is that if it were the other way around (“we don’t agree with Christianity, so we’re not going to sell you our house”) they’d be all over the news shrieking about religious discrimination.

  12. Am I the only one on here who finds the most shocking thing about this article is that two couples both in their 30s are able to afford a £650k house?

  13. That guy’s coat looks like it it contains some mixed fibres. This is contrary to the gracious teaching in God’s Word, the Holy Bible e.g. Leviticus 19:19.

  14. There needs to be a sub specifically dedicated to the daily Mail comments section.

I go on there near enough everyday to read them, it’s a very bad habit of mine. It’s like a little dose of depression in a jar.

Half the time I don’t even believe it’s a real person commenting with half the stuff that’s said on there.

  15. The comments on that article are trash.

“It’s their house and their values, they can sell to whomever they want”. I 100% guarantee if it was a black family who refused to sell to white people because of slavery, those same commenters would be FURIOUS.

  16. I bet his wife shows her hair and wears clothing of multiple cloths though. I bet he’s carried things on a Saturday and eaten bacon too.

    But gay people though right?

And jesus said unto them “judge, for they are gay.”

  17. As a person who used to be religious, using the bible is only way to get to them – so the first response that comes to mind is:

“£650,000 Surrey home? – sounds like Greed to me. See you in hell, bigots.”

  18. Even the *Daily Mail* has moved on from being negative about homosexuality. Why the heck do these people care what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedroom?

Also as a gay dude; that homophobic couple think about gay sex much more than I do.

  19. Off subject, as someone who grew up gay in the 90s I still can’t believe so many people online consistently argue so passionately FOR me to be treated the same way as anyone else!…

Still makes me a little teary thinking of me as a kid = 15 year old me would have never dreamed the UK people/attitudes would change like this 🙂

  20. The fact that one of the sellers is a doctor is disgusting, but more disgusting, though I guess not even remotely surprising given their ready base, is that this comment has more downvotes than upvotes by several hundred:

“This shouldn’t be allowed and she to be a Dr being prejudice like that is worrying. It’s 2022. We can do better then this behaviour and we should ostracise those who are of that thinking. Would they sell to a couple of different faith beliefs?”

  21. Also from the bible Timothy 2:12

“But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”

And yet the wife has a doctorate….
