That just looks like such a waste of fuel and munitions everytime I see it done.

I’m sorry but what’s the point of launching the flares if they’re just going to hit the ground like that?

That’s cool and all, but this doesn’t seem like a very effective tactic. Not once did I see our guys in Iraq or anywhere else I’ve been do this. We’d shoot hellfire missles, but they were sent directly at the target. Not pull the nose up, launch, pop chaff & flare, and fly away without confirmation.
