Real Madrid C. F. informs that the Court of Instruction No. 10 of Valencia has issued today, Monday, June 10, 2024, a conviction in conformity against the three young men accused of insulting, with shouts and racist gestures, our player Vinicius Junior in the League match that took place on May 21, 2023 at the Mestalla stadium between Valencia C. F. and Real Madrid C. F.
The three defendants have been found guilty of a crime against the moral integrity of Vinicius Junior, aggravated by having acted with racist motivations, and **it has been decreed for each of them the sentence of eight months imprisonment and a ban on access to soccer stadiums for a period of two years.**
The three defendants have accepted their criminal responsibility and have made public a letter of apology addressed to our player Vinicius Junior, to Real Madrid C. F. and to the rest of the people who felt denigrated and offended by their behavior. In addition to showing their repentance, the three defendants ask in their letter to the fans to banish in competitions all vestiges of racism and intolerance.
This is the first conviction for acts of this nature to be handed down by the criminal courts.
Real Madrid, which together with Vinicius Junior has acted as private prosecutor in these proceedings, will continue to work to protect the values of our club and to eradicate any racist behavior in the world of soccer and sport.
Leading the way in Spain as always. Hala Madrid!
Tebas better get those racists out of La Liga stadiums before they target Mbappe and if that happens, oh boy. La Liga’s reputation will die forever.
Not gonna lie, these people are complete idiots and deserves lifetime bans from all major sport stadiums, but them getting prison time over this doesn’t feel right.
Finally justice served for Vinicius. May he leads the way for a new era without racism in football.
God damn this is huge!
clubs should shoulder stuff like this, including points deductions for repeat offenders
