The odd thing is, I would literally need an entire novel to list all of the offensive things Labour and Conservative MP’s have said.
Funny how the Labour offences are barely reported on, or just skipped entirely by the BBC.
On WW2, we have a Prime Minister that can’t even be bothered to stick around for the D-Day commemorations. If Sunak was around in those times, I guarantee he would have sold us off to the Nazis.
Nice touch on them chucking in the Churchill quote though. Either way, it’s not going to work. Nobody cares if Ian Gribbin is offensive or not, they are still going to vote Reform regardless. People are that píssed off they don’t care if liberals think they are racist or “far right”.
You have an entire continent that’s already shifted to the right and the UK won’t be far behind them once more Gen Z voters are old enough to vote. Labour is going to be the last time a centre left party takes government for a very long time. It’s beyond tragic that this once in a generation opportunity is going to be spearheaded by Keir Starmer.
Boring. The media has started it’s assault on the establishment competition. I couldn’t give a fuck personally. News flash! Potential MP has dodgy opinion that literally has no overall political relevance. That’s literally every potential MP…
BBC showing its colours and trying to save the establishment. None of this is news and we don’t need to hear it. But here we are. How embarrassing.
This is why reform will perform well – because of shit like this.
His other comments from the article do make him look like a dick – misogyny and support for Putin.
Although WW2 is generally seen as a just war (from the Allied side), and I think it was, UK and France declaring war on Germany didn’t save Poland from being occupied by Germany and USSR under an agreement between them did it? Germany then briefly occupied all of it and some of the USSR, USSR then occupied Poland for 50 years and we didn’t fight them.
If the Japanese hadn’t attacked the USA at Pearl Harbour and brought them into the war, Europe might have ended up with Germany controlling most of Western mainland Europe (depending on if USSR needed the US aid it received to fight back on the Eastern Front.)
And WW1 and WW2 did basically bankrupt the UK. I believe we only finished paying the money borrowed from the US in 2006.
This matters because, generally, if we don’t learn the lessons from history we are doomed to repeat them. This may just be one objectionable view from one objectionable scrote – but what is more concerning is the response from the party machinery. Their response was basically to tell everyone to get over it, no big deal – https://x.com/bbclaurak/status/1800127685303419015
But it is a big deal. We’re currently supporting Ukraine against the nearest parallel we have to a 21st century Hitler (yes, no gas chambers but his desire for a Greater Russia is very lebensraum-y). Reform will in one way or another influence the Tory party post 4th July either by pushing the Conservatives towards their point of view UKIP-style or being absorbed by them and using them as a host body for their own ideals (which is more or less what Farage himself has said he wants). The nonchalance these comments have been met with by the party shows us what those ideals are – personally I think they’re awful. And if they think Britain would be better off by being neutral in the face of dictatorial threats, then we really haven’t learnt the lessons of history.
Amazing how a guy can be so right about Churchill and neoliberalism but so wrong about everything else.
Also, it’s not offence archaeology when it’s recorded statements. That would be offence history.
I will say one thing about WW2. We went to war because Hitler invaded Poland. And immediately after defeating the Nazis we gave control of Poland to Joseph Stalin.

So in that regard. It was pretty pointless.
