I swear this Beethoven = Austrian is nothing but reddit propaganda. I don’t think i’ve ever met an actual austrian claiming it in real life.
Sorry for being a bore, but isn’t the joke usually Mozart, not Beethoven? Beethoven was born and raised in what is by most standards called “Germany” – moved to Vienna later in his life. Whereas the question “what country is Mozart from” has a slightly more confusing answer.

All the while Ludwig VAN (please do notice the A in the middle of this word, if you look very clearly you will notice it is not an O, like they use in Germany or Austria) Beethoven is in reality Flemish.
They did that to us too, took the Tercios and gave us the Habsburgs.
