11. The Hamas hostage taking strategy was specifically to draw Israel into conflict and the predictable UN and international condemnations. Everyone is playing their part in the Hamas drama.

13. Well, the ball is clearly in his court. If he decides to continue the war, as I’m sure he will, more Palestinians will die. Personally, I want the hostages released and an end to the fighting. But since that can’t happen, I’m hoping more rescues come with similar body counts for his fighters.

16. It’s so frustrating and horrible that their strategy takes into account massive loss of life on their side just to prove a some kind of a twisted point. Siding with the Palestinian leadership OR the Israeli leadership at this point is just wrong. Nobody wins like this. Ceasefire on BOTH sides.

21. Hamas has the negotiating skills of a broken toilet plunger. Not sure what leverage they think they have besides allowing the destitute Palestinian population to be killed to get some upper hand.

25. I mean he ain’t exactly wrong. Hamas kidnaps and kills Israeli citizens. Israel, obviously, retaliates. Hamas refuses to return hostages, Israel goes fucking scorched earth to get them back, and the rest of the world and college campuses everywhere act like Israel is the bad guy and should just give Hamas whatever they want.

    What will likely happen is Israel uses the turmoil in western elections make more tunnels inoperable, reducing Hamas combat power.  Granted it’s just mowing the grass down low unless a long-term, enforceable political settlement can be reached.
