after 2 years of war the sound of gunfire has been replaced by loud Machinery where soldiers and civilians once fell buildings are now going up an attempt to leave the Region’s dark history behind people are finally finding some relief after many hardships when there is peace like this people can focus on their livelihoods the 2-year war between Ethiopian Federal forces and tan Rebel author authorities marked by atrocities on both sides killed roughly 600,000 people forced several Millions from their homes and triggered widespread hunger as both sides fought for control of Mel the regional Capital they imposed a de facto blockade no access for humanitarian workers no access for media and no internet more than 90% of tig’s Health Facilities were damaged looted or destroyed in this post-war context authorities made infrastructure their priority we are building around 12 roads in the city we are also working on two hospitals that are currently in progress during the war both sides recruited civilians on mass to fight in their ranks Herman jebra Maran is one of them he fought with ‘s people Liberation Front and was forced to disarm and demobilize after the war he’s now working on rebuilding this former Battlefield now that the war has ended there’s peace if this peace continues all public services such as telecommunications hospitals and schools will bring about substantial change the road to reconstruction could nonetheless be a Rocky one the castra ethopian government estimated it could cost up to 20 billion

Cafes and markets are bustling, roads are being rebuilt and factories and banks are operating again. Although Ethiopia’s northernmost region of Tigray is still gripped by a humanitarian crisis, the capital Mekele is slowly crawling back to normality 19 months after a peace deal ended one of the world’s deadliest recent conflicts.

  1. What about the active war undertaking in Amhara region? why no coverage by france 24? also it's false information about demobilization of Tigray forces still they are preparing for war and invading parts of Amhara region

  2. This reporter clearly harbors animosity towards Tigrayans. She consistently provides distorted information about them. For example, the claim that the Tigrayan government imposed a blockade on itself is not only a lie but also a foolish assertion. Who on earth would impose a blockade on themselves to starve and punish their own people? Additionally, she always refers to the legitimate Tigrayan government as 'rebels.' What is her problem with Tigrayans? Where is her integrity as a journalist?
