I was actually excited about those 45 story high-rise plans, they would have looked amazing on the skyline down the docklands. Gutting to see them not happening
>Building tall blocks of “build-to-rent” apartments, mostly containing single-bedroom units or studios, will not help to solve the housing crisis in the city,
Big brain logic there.
FRANK McDONALD, who lives in Dublin 2 & writes open opinion letters to the Irish Times, clearly has his finger on the pulse of exactly what the younger generation in this housing crisis needs.
Do you hear that guys? Apparently we absolutely don’t need any 1 & 2 bedroom high density city center apartments. Frank says that’s not how we want to live.
Nobody would possibly want to live by themselves in a central city location unless they are in a position to purchase a property outright.
Frank knows these things.
Edit: Looking at it, it’s most likely that this is the 72 year old ex editor of the Irish times Frank Mcdonald
No we need mass urban sprawl thus putting pressure on roads, public transport, water etc That’s a sustainable city for the future.
What exactly is Frank’s solution? He never quite makes it clear. A return to tenements? Mass deportation?
He never addresses the mismatch of supply and demand that is causing the crisis.

We need to preserve Dublin’s skyline!
