The president of VOX, Santiago Abascal, led this Saturday the summit of European patriots and conservatives held in Madrid, a meeting to reflect on the future of Europe and the threat posed by the globalist drift that “endangers the Union itself by move away from the Christian European ideals on which it was founded.
The meeting was attended by the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, the Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, and the French presidential candidate, Marine Le Pen, among other leaders, and concluded with a joint statement in defense of the sovereignty of nations, freedom and a Union focused on common European values.
“In July 2021, different political formations represented in the European Parliament signed a joint declaration that reflected our concerns and our commitment to defend a Europe that respects the sovereignty, freedom and traditions of the Member States. At the same time, we agreed to take the declaration as a reference as “a basis for common cultural and political work, respecting the role of the current political groups.”
In December 2021, the first summit of the patriotic and conservative forces of Europe was held in Warsaw. The participants discussed the need for closer cooperation between our parties in the European Parliament, as well as the organization of joint meetings and the alignment of our votes on common issues relating to the protection of the sovereignty of the Member States of the Union .
Today, the participants in the Madrid Summit, which took place in Spain between January 28 and 29, have reiterated our concern about the internal and external attacks on the European Union.
The European Community was forged as a space for free cooperation between sovereign states. However, there is a growing threat that tries to transform the Union into an ideological mega-state; a corporation that despises national identity and sovereignty and, therefore, democracy, plurality and the interests of the citizens of the nations that make up the Union.
This drift endangers the Union itself by moving away from the Christian European ideals on which it was founded. Today, some bureaucrats and some parties mistakenly believe that they can promote agendas without democratic legitimacy, that go against the needs of Europeans and the survival of Western civilization itself.
Faced with this situation, we, the participants of the Summit, commit ourselves to defend Europe from external and internal threats. We will confront the currents that advocate a European Union alien to its history and that, cut off from reality, lead to demographic suicide and population transformation. Europe is in demographic decline. We must support policies that support the family.
We love Europe, because we love our nations. And we will defend Europe, because we defend our nations. For this reason, we will not stop demanding a Union dedicated to common European values, to people, to their families, to the protection of its borders and to the freedom to have access to energy, industry and a strong primary sector. We have to recover the culture of mutual respect between the Member States and with the EU institutions, where constitutional identities are safeguarded and not criticized. We denounce the politically motivated attacks from Brussels against Poland and Hungary, which show total disregard for the basic principles of the EU and violate the spirit of the Treaties.
In short, we must cooperate and join forces to protect Europe from imposed ideologies and anti-democratic drift that lead to its downfall.
To this end, we have agreed on our commitment to:
-Enforce the principle of community preference. Goods produced in the Member States must have priority over goods from third countries, which are responsible for the impoverishment of farmers and ranchers in our nations and for the weakening of Europe as an industrial power.
-Denounce the immigration policy promoted by Brussels and the inefficiency of FRONTEX, which is not contributing to the protection of our borders, and expressly condemn the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, which has had disastrous effects in Europe.
-Work for a greater European energy capacity, developing a set of measures to improve energy self-sufficiency where nations can freely dispose of the energy they need, respecting the environment, but without submitting to the imposition of ideological prejudices. Brussels’ failed energy policy contributes to unsustainable energy prices.

-Demand in any case strict compliance with the Treaties and firmly reject any initiative that seeks to unduly extend the powers of the Community institutions.
–Defend the primacy of national constitutions over European Union law, and of national laws over community regulations in everything that is not the exclusive competence of the Union.
-Work to ensure that the nations of Europe act in solidarity in the face of the threat of external aggression. Russia’s military actions on Europe’s eastern border have brought us to the brink of war. Solidarity, determination and defense cooperation among the nations of Europe are necessary in the face of such threats. European nations confirm the ineffectiveness of EU diplomacy. Each nation should have a strong and united voice to preserve the peace, territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of European nations.
-Urge the community and national institutions to sign agreements with third countries so that immigrants with judicial sentences serve them in their countries of origin, and the return of all immigrants who illegally enter community territory is intensified.
-Work so that an application for international protection in process does not become a free pass to Europe, but only allows entry to the common space after asylum has been granted.
-Create a coordination office as a form of stronger cooperation between the political formations present at the Madrid Summit, with the aim of joining forces and voting in the European Parliament on the issues referred to above».
