Israel-Hamas war: UN Security Council adopts US resolution for ‘immediate and complete ceasefire’

this resolution got almost unanimous support in the council the US drafted text backing a Gaza ceasefire proposal was adopted by the security Council on Monday afternoon with 14 members voting in favor and only one abstaining Russia the resolution welcomes the TRU and hostage release proposal announced on May 31st by US President Joe Biden and urges parties to fully Implement its terms without delay and without Condition it’s a three-part plan that includes the release of hostages an end of fighting and the withdrawal of Israeli Army from Gaza now this resolution also reiterates the council’s commitment to a two-state solution so now after eight months of War we have a resolution supporting a ceasefire plan it just seems ironic that it was a US resolution when it was the United States that vetoed three previous attempts to pass ceasefire resolutions in this Council the US ambassador to the UN told the council colleagues today we voted for peace but Russia’s Envoy who abstained said that the true details of this deal are not really known to any one except perhaps the mediators and he described the deal as a cat in the bag well he expressed concern that the United States essentially cut the UN out of the deal now the United States says that Israel’s accepted this ceasefire proposal and Hamas announced on Monday that it too would accept the deal yet the Israeli representative here in the council was not quite clear on whether or not Israel had actually accepted the deal algeria’s Envoy here reminded the council that over 37,000 Palestinians have been killed uh by the Israeli forces in Gaza 20,000 of them women and children

The UN Security Council on Monday approved its first resolution endorsing a cease-fire plan aimed at ending the eight-month war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

  9. This is puzzling. How is a war still possible anywhere on the planet? Didn't the powerful and intelligent people of Chicago vote for a ceasefire months ago?

  12. This resolution will not only hinder the war in the Middle East but also will revive the credibility and confidence of other nations in the UNO which has been lost meaningfully during the processions and meetings of UNO on controversial basis.
