: ‘There were conversations over Alphonso Davies’ future. The player’s agent, Nedal Huoseh, was recently in Munich. Everyone thought he would sign a new contract because there was a new agreement after Max Eberl held talks with Huoseh. But Bayern’s board wasn’t happy with the numbers on this agreement, they said he’s still too expensive. I heard they were talking about a four-year contract, which would have cost a €100m package in total. It included a signing fee for the agent and player. The signing fee was €15m, I heard, which was too much, at the moment, for the Bayern board. That’s why the agent flew back without an agreement. So, Davies is now on the market again if Bayern doesn’t find a solution to make the numbers more appetising’ [via @caughtoffside]

  2. Maybe this is just cope but it doesn’t make sense to me how these insiders had no clue about Ito, but somehow they know who our new manager wants to get rid of

  3. I’m not particularly sure I’m biting with all of the news surrounding De Ligt.

He was our starting and best centre back to end the season, he didn’t particularly put a foot wrong, he committed himself to the club and is massive amongst the fans. Still super young, plenty of room to grow, born leader… yada yada.

We’re saying he’s to be sold because Vincent company wants this? When he hasn’t even conducted a training session yet?

Our coaches don’t have that power recently. The business model that the board decide on the transfers because the players usually outlast the coach… works jn reverse too, right?

I can’t really think of a player that was performing well that the coach decided he wasn’t planning with and was sold after Pep.

  4. > Bayern submitted a second bid to Fulham worth €45m for João Palhinha on Tuesday, which still wasn’t enough for the English club. Fulham are unwilling to accept less than the fee that was agreed last summer (€58m plus €9m add-ons). Personal terms with Palhinha already agreed (fixed salary €10m per year plus add-ons). The negotiations between clubs continue

If they actually want 58 Mio. I think it’s time to move on. Sad for Palhinha but nobody forced him to sign a contract extension

  5. It’s so funny to see the reaction in here regarding the potential sale of de Ligt.

If a club comes in and offers more than 80m for him it would be stupid to not do it. He is a great player but has not shown so far that he is worth that kind of money.

These 80m+ could well decide at the end of the day if we get Wirtz or not. And the outrage here would be even bigger if we aren’t able to even go for Wirtz next year because of financial reasons.

  6. With the Ito signing, Tah becomes even more puzzling. Initially I thought maybe Tah is being brought in because we aren’t signing an LCB after all, but this changes everything. At present, we have 5 CBs fighting for 2 spots (assuming we aren’t gonna be playing 3atb). With de Ligt’s sale, we would have 4, which is enough, especially with Stanisic filling in during an emergency.

So why go with Tah at all then? Don’t tell me they are planning to offload Upa too. Guy may have had blunders, but he is still our most complete CB. Unlike de Ligt, who is very limited and not suited to a playstyle Kompany would want to play, Upa is perfect. His mistakes would probably also be fewer if a DM is there to help out.

  7. I’m actually excited for the Euros and this DFB squad, can’t believe I’m having these feelings again after ’18, ’20, and ’22

  8. The Kimmich squad here. Would you guys extend him for the same 20m he is making today?

So would you extend a RB if he isn’t planned for the midfield for 20 m?

I see it the only two RB that deserve that kind of money would have been: Lahm, Cafu and possibly Zanetti.

So what’s acceptable? For me I wouldn’t give him more than what de Ligt is making today.

So if we do extend him what’s the limit for you guys?

  9. Tell me If I make sense (none of this is correct in the sense that I would present that to anyone serious, its very much just throwing around numbers):

A few weeks ago Falk said we have 85m€ for this transfer window. That makes sense, as our cash reserves normally are around 130-180m€, and we want to build a new training center at the Säbener Straße that is supposed to cost 80-100m€. So a part of the cash reserves are earmarked for the initial investment, another part is for the day to day cost, and a bit for a rainy day fund, and that comes roughly together.

The 85m€ increased a bit to 95m€ due to Tillmans sale, and went down to 65m€ due to Ito. Which means that is roughly what we can plan with before we make sales. With that we were trying to go for Palhinha, and sent an offer for him over 45m€ incl. bonus to Fulham on Tuesday (date as per Bild). Fulham rejected that, pointing to their valuation of 70m€ and last years deal of 58+9m€. And yesterday we heard Ornstein say that we asked Crystal Palace for the permission to talk with Olise for a deal for his release clause of 70m€ last wednesday.

So what I want to say, we are not broke, we just dont want to have a 3rd party finance an capital expensure that wont directly refinance itself (like the Allianz Arena does through ticketing), we are planning around the cash budget that we gave ourselves, and our focus went from Palhinha to the winger position for now. Every other transfer (outside maybe a loan deal for Xavi) will have to come from income through sales.

  10. If Upa fumbles at the Euros as well he will be a “serial loser” in his own mind and that can take years to shake off, if ever. Talking from personal experience…

  11. > Bayern want to give Aleksandar Pavlović and Josip Stanišić a new 5-year contract each. Both players are from the club’s academy and fit into the future philosophy of the club. Vincent Kompany is planning with Stanišić and Pavlović [@altobelli13]

  12. > Bayern are relaxed despite the current standstill in contract negotiations with Alphonso Davies. With Hiroki Itō, Bayern have already signed a player who can cover the position – and there’s also Guerreiro in the squad. The club is unwilling to meet Davies’ current demand and would put him up for sale if he doesn’t lower them. Real Madrid remain interested but will not pay Davies more than what Bayern are currently offering. Going into the final year of his contract is not Bayern’s preferred scenario, but is not completely ruled out either and wouldn’t be the end of the world for the club

    > Bayern’s decision-makers have clearly noticed that Davies has not caused any problems off the pitch. He’s even said to have intensified his German lessons in recent months. And at least in some cases he had a slight upward trend in performance in the last few games of the season, for example with his goals against Real Madrid and Hoffenheim. However, he needs to get his defensive weaknesses under control

  13. I swear to god, if the club keeps Upamecano over deligt, then I’m going to be really disappointed

  14. De Ligt is not leaving. He’s not. I won’t believe it one bit.Falk and Pletti can say whatever

  15. No way do we accept losing Davies for free.
    Even 30m beats that

  16. Maybe after the Euros people will give Upa the respect he deserves 😀

  17. Give me your Euro 2024 hot take!

Mine is spicy. France will finish 3rd in the group. Losing to the Netherlands and drawing their first game to Austria.
