Well if they have the park anywhere lights on then we cant really complain. Its a rule that apples to all of us and holds society together
I really like the penalty system in Finland connected to one’s income.
If a rich twat parks like that, 80 euro is nothing for him, but if it is related to his income, he may have to pay 800 euro instead so it feels like a penalty for them.
They’d make loads of money around GAA matches in Cork city….Blackrock road and the surrounding area had hundreds of cars double parked on the foot paths, some completely blocking it.
And parked opposite a continuous white line which is another offence
Milltown?

In places like Ballyfermot, Drimnagh, Crumlin etc etc you HAVE to park on the footpath otherwise the road would be completely blocked on both sides!
Where are people who don’t have driveways (or with more than one car) meant to park without blocking the road? These estates were all built in the 50s. It’s not the residents’ fault.
OP doesn’t seem to know what checkmate is
This thread is devoid of common sense.
Edit:
A. If they wanted to go in for a breakfast roll they could have parked a lot closer. Therefore it’s as likely they’re attending an incident.
B. Emergency services are logically and correctly exempt from traffic laws in most situations.
C. Even if they aren’t attending a call emergency services personal need to be close to their vehicle for the next call.
D. If you’re going down this road where in god’s name do you expect firetrucks and ambulances to park?
Now they just need someone to enforce it
Are the Facebook people slowly invading reddit? This could be a very shit place in a couple of years.
The amount of guards I see driving on their home is insane , above the law
Now that the Gardaà have been allowed full control over the fines they issue they are 100% profit driven under the guidance of an RUC man. Don’t expect any violence to be dealt with and do expect them to go out of their way to catch out and extort mostly innocent people.
Wait, is parking on the footpath illegal? You’d never know it from my town. In some places they’ve even had to put up ugly orange bollards just to try to keep some small portion of the path clear.
Next I suppose you’ll be telling me that the double yellow lines on the road aren’t there to show you where to put your tyres when parking…
Fucking LOL don’t you know where you are OP? The Gardai are there to make sure that us plebs follow the law. They and their masters can do as they please. Now, WTF are you going to do about it??
Maybe this car is here because the guards were called to an emergency and are inside saving someone’s life. Would you prefer they were doing laps of a car park up the road?
Literally read this while parked on a footpath
Emergency hot chicken fillet roll stop.
Sargent to garda: why did it take you so long to get to the robbery?
Garda: couldn’t find anywhere legal to park nearby.
I always see guards cycling the wrong way down cycle lanes in Cork city. I had to stop and pull over the other day because they were coming at me two abreast and wouldn’t get out of the way. They cycled around me looking at me like bullies in a 1980s American kids movie.
great, can we do something about women being fucking attacked now or do we need some more lollipop legislation?
As a courier, parking on paths and cycle lanes is very often the ONLY option. Spend a single day in the job and you’d understand. I know I park like an asshole but it’s usually for no more than 30 seconds.
I’ve seen no mention of blue lights in the comments.
Without fail, every time I’ve seen an ambulance or fire vehicle badly parked they’ve had lights on. Implying an incident.
Seeing a garda car with lights on while parked is a rarity in my experience.
To me personally a vehicle with blue lights can park where ever the hell they want to. A vehicle without blue lights on might aswell be any other road user. In this case a road user Id call abit of a dick.
And before anyone mentions ‘its outside a garda station’.
Then why isn’t there road markings designated Garda use only in the shape of a parking space like I’ve seen plenty of times before?
On a less serious note..
Do ya think we should petition the Garda office to bring in a new light sequence for the cars to indicate “feck off, it’s breakfast roll time, work around me”?
