U.S. flight planners have repeatedly sent planes over the Black Sea, but during past Ukrainian strikes, U.S. flight controllers prevented the $200 million-plus plane from flying so close to Crimea during actual missile strikes from Kyiv.
Powerful explosions that occurred on June 12 were heard in the vicinity of Sevastopol, the Saki airfield near the village of Fedorovka and the port city of Yevpatoria. The explosions lasted about 10 minutes and were caused by rockets.
The targets were Russian military installations. According to some sources, these were airfields and airplanes, according to others, Russian air defense systems. About three kilometers south of a large military airfield, smoke with a strong odor of burnt petroleum products was visible.
Some reports claim that at least one Kiev missile damaged elements of the Russian S-400 system, the Kremlin’s main air defense system, which is based near the Sevastopol airfield. Other reports indicate that the weapons used in the strikes were US-made ATACMS missiles, some with conventional warheads and at least one with a cluster warhead.
The second Ukrainian strike round appears to have been aimed at logistics or possibly transport infrastructure in northern Crimea. At the time of the Ukrainian strikes, FORTE12 was 190-200 kilometers from Sevastopol in international airspace. He was in the air for about 7 hours during a flight that lasted approximately 16 hours.

  5. Sounds coincidental to me. I'd doubt the US is sharing Global Hawk EW data with Ukraine but it does seem likely that Ukraine is getting military grade real time satellite intelligence/mapping from French and US satellites, and realistically that is all Ukraine needs, geo locating Russian high value targets and then marking them for destruction whether they are active or not. Or maybe Ukraine is relying on its recon drones and partisan intel plus the odd special forces raid.
    What is obvious is that Biden and other Western leaders have lost tolerance with Russian threats and aggression, are demanding that it end so Russia is in for a much tougher time, gloves are off, Putin has been given a Cease and Desist Order or Russia faces inevitable ruin, something that the West didn't want to do.
    The Global Hawk is just a US spy, giving Biden well considered strike options if the USA and other NATO partners need to strike and destroy the Russian military in or near Ukraine. That is my uninformed view.
    Russia is now involved in a new, long-term Cold War hostility with the West where provocations can turn into conflicts and conflicts can turn into war. NATO is prepared and prepares more. This broke the Soviet Union superpower and it will break the much less significant and much less powerful Russian Federation.
    It is just senseless that Russia prefers hostility and conflict over peace, security, stability and prosperity. Putin is nuts!
