If Ukraine can get air superiority they can finally start to counter attack using NATO doctrine and combined arms.
Add in their drone fleet and this could be a key point in this war.

The idea they could establish air superiority is complete insanity.
On the other hand just making the airspace contested again would probably be enough to allow Ukraine some success.
I bet some bullshit happens to cause Ukraine not to get f16s this summer.
Ukraine doesn’t currently have the fresh infantry required for a counteroffensive. It’s not a realistic possibility this summer. This guy has no clue what he’s talking about.
Maybe, maybe not. It would be great, if f16 is that capable. It just doesn’t seem likely.
There is no way the f-16s sent can stablish air superiority, they arent going to fare much better than the Mig-29s for 2 reasons
The Mig-31s (Interceptor) of the Russian airforce can detect and engage f16s futher than the f16s can do the same since the range of the AIM-120 C7 Is around 100km and the R-27M is more than 150 plus they fly higher and faster.
The west cant supply Ukraine with enough spare parts of anything, half the challangers are out of service, most of the leopard 1s too thats why we dont see much of them, not only that but they cant supply enough ammo for artillery and tank shells and air defense, how can we expect them to supply the f16s?

An offensive this summer would have to be about pushing them out of Kharkiv again, and some minor gains here and there, maybe take back Aavdivka and make a bit more ground around Bakhmut. More importantly if things go well with Western planes we can really pound the Russians, and reduce their offensive potential further and perhaps soften them for retaking some minor ground and 2025.
Even that is somewhat optimistic. This year was about Ukraine not collapsing before aid, atteition, and preparing for various 2025 scenarios.
Ukraine cannot really go on any major offensive without a large amount of equipment, as Russia has shown itself to be competent at building defenses, even moreso than Ukraine.
If Biden is reelected perhaps there could be a summer 2025 offensive with a bit more gear, but he’s had 2.5 years now, he’s probably not going to surprise us. If there’s an offensive it’ll because western planes have successfully softened them up for a year.
Even then I doubt there’d be any major breakthroughs before 2026, there’s just too many Russian servicemen and line after line of fortifications, and mine dimensions.
And Zeihan is an authority on this, because?
Zeihan tells you want you wanna hear in exchange of views.
Frankly I listen to him cuz his POV that the West will prevail and that China will not overtake the world is refreshing but you have to be aware he sells a very rosy picture especially for the US.
Still he has good general knowledge but it’s very very very very very centered around the anglosphere.
Not sure about air superiority, but this appears to be an SMO that Putin can’t win and can’t afford not to win. He needs to remain president to stay alive.
