7. It’s a flat-out lie. The police won’t respond to shoplifters unless the value is significantly higher than they’d be able to lift from a random junk, sorry antiques, shop.

   The sign’s just there to to frighten off the sort of idiots who are frightened by signs. The genuine ‘professional’ [regular] shoplifters know full well the cops won’t come out so will ignore it.
