Former justice minister Christiane Taubira wins the ‘people’s primary’ held by the French left

  1. The problem of the French left is that the result changes nothing. They will still field 100 different candidates who will all take votes away from each other and none will have a chance to get into the run-off, let alone win.

The French left is practically dead.

  2. Just so you, fellow europeans, can laugh with us :

Among the “candidates”, three of them (Hidalgo, Jadot and Melenchon) were not candidates and Melenchon even asked to have his name removed from the ballot.

Just after the results, one of the candidates, Agueb-Porterie, declared she would follow Melenchon rather than the winner of the primary.

Basically, instead of giving a single candidate for the left, this primary added another candidate, dividing the left even more. It was a shit-show.

  3. This is hilarious

    >Taubira, who had entered the contest as the favourite, emerged as the only candidate with a “better than good” ranking.
