  1. Been collecting war time letters for years and overtime I’ve amassed a large collection of letters from soldiers from various nations. I thought it would be cool to make a post with a letter from 7 of the major nations. So in this post, there are 7 letters, written by an American (In France), British (In Holland) Canadian (In England), Australian, Soviet (On the Eastern Front), German (In Italy) and Japanese Soldier.

  2. These are amazing. The Japanese one’s got the most Aura for sure.

  3. What an insane contrast between the contents of the letters! Thank you for sharing!

  4. Common theme for me is that all of these guys are just ordinary men, called upon to leave their lives and lives behind and to go to war.

  5. Fantastic stuff, thank you for sharing.

I find both WW1 and WW2 so unimaginable to comprehend.

I’ve always been fascinated by WW1 more than WW2. (I don’t know how else to say this, maybe fascinated is not the right word)

    But WW2 man fucking hell.

When you see the scale of it, the photos of boats crossing the channel for D-DAY blows my mind.
The absolute mass destruction all over the world never seen before.
The millions and millions of deaths whether that’s military or civilian. All because of a war. Approximately 75million dead.

And that it was also only 75 years ago. It’s modern history.

Blows my mind. I feel something so devastating as WW1 & WW2 that every day people all around d the globe should be reminded of it.
