The logo of European national postal services

  1. Can someone explain why so many have that horn? Like was there a time when the mailman would come to your door and play a little tune/Fanfare to let you know that you got mail?

  2. Polish redesign looks like someone reclining with their arms behind their head getting a blow job from someone else.

  3. I like Finnish one. Apart from logo, their postal service has a very good branding design: it feels like some fun and friendly startup, rather than boring postal service.

  4. Man, Ukrposhta used to be such hot garbage just a few years back. Then Nova Poshta started asserting dominance and they revamped beyond belief.

I was so afraid to go to the one next to my house because I always remember it being overcrowded and staff being utterly overworked and abusive, now everything’s spacious, fast, clean, and they hired young friendly employees who can pacify even the angriest babushka with their charm

  5. Poczta Polska is so fucking bad, no joke. Getting packages from the US is pointless because they’re almost certain to keep it for a month in customs facilities, and when I call them to complain, the phone number doesn’t work. And then when I find the “correct” phone number, nobody answers the fucking phone because there’s apparently only one fucking phone, and everyone’s fucking calling to fucking complain. Jebać Poczta Polska.

Yes, I do feel better now, thanks for asking.

  6. The choice of colours for Italy is a bit weird, considering PosteItaliane uses blue on yellow everywhere

  7. This is old as hell, we don’t have PostDanmark anymore. It’s called PostNord now, and it covers postal services for Denmark and Sweden (and possibly the other countries as well, not sure).

  8. In 2007, Finnish Posti changed it’s name into “Itella” (which doesn’t mean anything it’s just a made up word). They did this because they were developing into more international and modern services. This was very strange, because almost anyone can guess what posti means without speaking Finnish, but even Finns don’t know what Itella means. They fortunately came to their senses in 2015 and changed it back. However, they continue with the madness of inventing stupid brands. Last year they started to communicate with their customers in colloquial language. They will send you texts that are equivalent of “Yo, your package has arrived go get it!” They think this makes them more approachable and closer to everyday people. But it’s just awkward and dumb.

  9. Greece has Hermes. Probably the coolest logo in Europe but it looks a lot like the face of the woman of the French Republic! 🤣Pretty cheap and reliable services, but the problem is you almost always need to go to a store since the postal boxes around the country and in the cities are so few and far in between that they have almost been disbanded. No other places to get stamps either. And they are not that relevant since the country has door-to-door courier services everywhere at a low cost…

  10. Why so much blue and yellow? I suspect that blue is associated with reliability (e.g. in airline logos). but why yellow? Likewise, why so little green and orange?

  11. Rest of Europe: Some variation on the word “post”.

    UK: “ROYAL MAIL”

It was almost renamed to “Consignia” a few years ago, that was quite the fiasco.
