  1. Smartphones make the world more difficult to escape

  2. “Four in 10 people in Ireland say they are “worn out by the amount of news there is these days”, with women and people aged 25-44 most likely to report news fatigue.

Some 44 per cent of people also say that they “often or sometimes” actively avoid the news, up 10 percentage points on the number of people who said they did a year ago.

Meanwhile, more than half of media consumers say they are uncomfortable with news being produced “mostly by AI” with only “some human oversight”.

A news diet – a day off every three might be healthy!

  3. You don’t need to keep abreast of everything happening everywhere. You also don’t need to care about everything all the time either. Treat yourself and stop caring for a day.

  4. Might sound harsh, but I try to avoid bad news around the world that doesn’t directly affect me, doesnt mean I don’t care what happens, its that for my own mental well-being it serves no purpose to get upset and does more damage than good.

  5. The biggest problem is that everyone is expected to have an opinion on everything else look ignorant.

Your opinion is then used as a litmus test, and any deviation is mocked and ridiculed.

  6. Here’s a tip, delete all your news apps and as much social media as your comfortable with. I read the paper on a Sunday in case I missed a nuclear war and I have Reddit for lawns, gardening and boobs

    Much happier

  7. We rinse and repeat everything. It’s not so much that there’s too much news, there is, it’s that we talk about the same stuff over and over. RTÉ1 + Newstalk cover all of the same stuff and then at night time RTÉ and Virgin have the same talking heads on to talk about the same stuff with nothing new to add.

    – says news story.

  9. 24/7 news channels.

Also who gives a fuck if inflation is up or down 0.1% this month?

  10. Agreed: and is why ATM I’ve taken a break from my usual haunts; I don’t have any “feeds” that I can get sucked into Doom Scrolling, I just visit various news outlets manually. But especially with the EU Elections and far-right fascists suddenly getting voice I just **had** to take a break ‘cos it seemed like we were coming apart at the seams all a sudden.

  11. Am burned out watching the slow decline.

Things slowly getting worse, whille people pat themselves on the back for a job well done.

    Ah well.

  12. Just bury your head in the sand like the middle and upper classes do!

  13. Worn out by the endless propaganda and warmongering.

  14. It’s not the amount of news it’s the amount of bad news and shite the media push.
