Forget D-day
This is where WW2 was won by the allies.
And the most important point let’s hope such a tragedy will never happen again and let’s never forget the suffering endured by the people who were in Stalingrad during the siege, how much they suffered, and how many of them died.
The German movie “Stalingrad” from 1993 is very recommended to watch. While having a few minor flaws more than “Das Boot” (arguably the best WW2 movie), it illustrates the horrors of war almost perfectly.

Glory to Red Army❤️🚩
My grandfather fought in this battle and the first hand accounts I’ve heard will live with me forever. This is why Russia takes a defensive tone when the West tries to brush aside it’s role in defeating the Nazis. The heroics that went on our side of the conflict cannot be underestimated. The band of brothers involving Ukranians, Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, Belarusians, Russians among many others on the Eastern front should not be cast aside, their stories should also be told as we are creeping into a revisionism of history where many of the young generation are growing up thinking the U.S won the war. I even saw a documentary where most young people in Japan do not even know what the Nazi symbol means..they think it means “gyaku manji”, a local sign for peace and happiness and a majority of them do not know who Hitler was.
The youtube channel “World War 2 in real time” released an excellent episode on the surrender a few days ago.
Newsflash to everyone arguing about who suffered more: civilians from all sides. That’s what a war does. It tortures and kills civilians caught up in it. And yes, most soldiers too. The only people who don’t suffer are either sociopaths or are hidden away pretending to be in charge.
“And this victory meant that our Motherland had withstood one of the most difficult tests in its history.”
