Lol There was Greek celebrations here claiming that French soldiers would die for their hopeless maximalist claims. Of course this was a Bussiness as usual but some people were pretty attached to it. Now there is a country that was bankrupt because defence deals spent their EU recovery money on French military contracts by taking credits from French Banks with high interests for a war that will never happen. It is quite sad. How they sold the future of Greek babies. Unbelieveable.
“The Parties shall render mutual aid and assistance, by all appropriate means in their possession, if necessary the use of armed force, if they jointly determine that an armed attack has occurred against the territory of one of them, in accordance with Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations”, reads Article 2 of the military agreement.
However, the French defence ministry told EURACTIV France in a written statement that exclusive economic zones are not part of the deal.
“The exclusive economic zone (EEZ) is not considered to be part of the territory of a State, notably by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (known as the Montego Bay Convention), to which France and Greece are parties,” the ministry said.”
Ok so if Turkey shoots a greek person at sea it dosen’t count but if it’s done on a greek island it does?
To be fair NATO powers are already bound to defend a nation against an aggressor ( lets be honest it’s not the Greeks being aggressive here) this is just extra confirmation. Plus Greece has some new ships.
I feel sad for the Turkish people that they have to suffer 20% inflation, a Lira that’s constantly declining in value, weakening purchasing power etc just so that the AKP can leverage support on a nationalist basis by threatening a technical ally. Still it seems they are losing patience with his antics and the economic situation and he is losing popularity.

The question and criticism about EEZ and the deal with France was stupid from the start because comes from stupid people I mean the syriza opposition in Greece.
We do not have EEZ with Turkey. We have with Italy so let’s say an Italian fisherman violates Greece EEZ we start a war with Italy? Of course no fucking idiots.
