I am getting some documents delivered from India to Germany. They must be around 10-20 pages. My sister sent them to me using a local company – Dehlivery.

I received a message from "FedEx" that I need to pay import taxes on it and there was a hyperlink which led to this page.

This text seems fishy. Is this a scam ?

Also, if real, do I really have to pay import duty on receiving documents?

  2. You can paste the url in some page like https://www.punycoder.com . If the url is still fedex.com afterwards it’s legit as in „send by fedex“.
    If it’s really just documents it shouldn’t be a tariffed good, therefore you could inquire at fedex/customs how the amount comes together.

  3. Is it possible that your sister included some things that are not documents in the package?

  4. Seems legit. If in doubt go to the FedEx page directly and check your shipping status.

    PS: it’s a scam in a way. Because it’s so expensive. There might be a way to ask them to hand the package to customs and you do the handling yourself. If you have the time for that and can go to the customs office.
