
Like every first Wednesday of February, today at 13:30 7200 sirens will sound in unison to test the general alert system of Switzerland. This is a check to ensure they would work to alert the population in case of bombardment or nuclear attack on Swiss soil.

Let’s hope they do better than Germany. In Germany it was such a debacle the last time, they decided to “postpone” it the next year, because they didn’t do jack shit to fix it.

Once a year? In Finland we test the alerts every month on Mondays at noon. Used to be every week.
