Norway is a huge experiment right now,we will see in a few years how easy/dificult is to run a society with close to majority electrified vehicles
how is the charging going to be done, how is traffic going to evolve, how practical are electric cars during long cold winters, how car crashes are going to develop(electric cars are much less noisy than normal cars, and that can be a danger for bicyclists or pedestrians) etc.
in my personal case,i see electric cars being so silent as something very dangerous, but we will see if Norway will see an increase in car accidents or not
we will see if their experiment is going to succeed or not
In any case,be happy that Norway is doing it ,so we can spot ahead what could await us a decade from now
This is gonna turn into another “But Norway is a major exporter of oil” like every single other one of these posts.
It is going to be interesting to see if this is still the case moving forward, the price of electricity has skyrocketed in Norway this last year.
The hypocrisy…
They are going full electric while their country exports oil and coal to the world
And how is it with charging you car in Norway on one of those days where everyone in the country has to travel? Is the charging capacity big enough?
I think it is misleading to call EVs ‘zero emissions’ as for sure not 100% of electricity is green even in Norway. That doesn’t mean they are not better though or that I have anything against them, I am planning to buy an EV in this year or the next.
Yeah if you would not get subsides and other advantages and if sales would depend purely on market that outcome would be totally different..
What were total sales in comparison to the previous year?
How do people in norway deal with the weather?
Swede here and we’ve had people having to abandon their EVs during heavy weather because they run out of electricity during the highway queues.
