>The deadlines for nuclear power investments proposed in the act should be removed. The Commission has proposed that existing nuclear power plants be included in the Taxonomy only until 2040 and new nuclear power plants until 2045.
Given that building a new nuclear plant is easily taking 15 years from the point of gathering funds, 2040 means it won’t be ready before 2050, which makes it useless for achieving climate goals. The deadlines should not be extended, but made sharper. A nuclear project not started before 2030 is not going to contribute to the climate transition.
