Kim Jong Un gives support to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as Vladimir Putin visits North Korea

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un promised full support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as he met President Vladimir Putin in Pyongyang on Wednesday in a bid to expand their economic and military cooperation.

Putin’s visit to Pyongyang comes amid growing concerns in the West about an arms arrangement in which North Korea provides Russia with badly needed munitions to fuel Moscow’s war in Ukraine.

It is said to be in exchange for economic assistance and technology transfers that could enhance the threat posed by Kim’s nuclear weapons and missile program. Putin thanked Kim for the support and said the two countries would sign an agreement to boost their partnership as both “fight against the imperialist hegemonistic policies of the US and its satellites against the Russian Federation.”

Speaking at the start of his talks with his fellow dictator, the Russian leader said in remarks carried by Russian state Tass and RIA Novosti news agencies that the “new fundamental document will form the basis of our ties for a long perspective.”
