I think this deal is working out greater than it could have done before. Last season, if you asked others who our best midfielder was for the season, McKennie would either be at the top of the list or just below the top.
Point being, he was really good last year. And he did that in a passive Allegri system. He runs a lot, isn’t the most skilled player or anything but his work rate is pretty good. And his heading ability is pretty good as well.
Could this be a blessing in disguise? That we managed to retain our best midfielder of the last season. Maybe Motta grows accustomed to McKennie and finds a use for him?
Of course it won’t be all that easy. We know McKennie wants a newer contract with a higher salary so we’ll have to wait and see if the management entertains him with it.
But the coming months can be crucial on what our midfield looks like next season and I’m not sure if we are better off without or with Weston McKennie in it…

I wouldn’t either
I don’t mind at all. Players have their right to stick to the original contract if they choose so, i’m just curious as to why it fell apart at the last minute.
Good for him. There is a difference to play for Juve rather than Villa.
Hope he ends up likes Dybala.
So not wanting to play in the Premier League and Champions League with a team that’s pretty solid is ok? He wants money to leave, ridiculous! Probably still has nightmares on his brief Leeds stint. No player is bigger than the team, Forza Juve🦓.
He refused a team who plays in what is considered to be the best league in the world and he asked us for top players money while being a mediocre player at best. I’d be happy with losing him for nothing next summer if we don’t let him play a single minute for an entire year
He doesn’t want to live in Birmingham. Understandable
Why would you take a pay cut to live in a country with a worse weather
It’s within his rights to look for what’s best in his career.
I personally think a move to Villa would be perfect for him, it’s a big club, not as big as Juve but still quite big and prestigious, in the upper tier of PL, CL football this season at least and a place where he’ll probably be among the leaders.
Then again, if he doesn’t feel satisfied financially, it’s his choice. One thing I wouldn’t like to see is the club “punishing” him for not renewing/being sold by e.g. sending him to train with the kids, this always looks like an asshole move.
Would you rather live in Italy or fucking Birmingham lol
He has every right to stay. You can’t be mad at a player (employee) who wants to see out his contract. Rather, you should look at the ones giving out the contracts instead. But also, so much anger towards him, some of you need to seriously calm down. This doesn’t affect you
Lets turn the question around. Why should he not stay at Juve? He is a good player and had a great season. I would prefer to have him to stay if he wants to and is welcome to do so. We shouldnt push him out.
